Graviti - The perfect balance of control, speed, and powerful spin!

Graviti is a new company, started by Morgan Harrison, a college student and yoyo designer. Morgan started Graviti in highschool as a pet project, and just made a small first run of their first design. After the first run, they knew there were on to something and the VULCAN was born!

Named after the Roman God of the Forge, the Vulcan is an unstoppable powerhouse! It has comfortable angular cuts in the catch zone for great feel in hand and pushes weight out towards the rims for a bimetal-like playfeel. The fingerspin friendly cup on the Vulcan showcases a unique through-hole axle design to help center fingerspin easily and allow you to get a stuck axle out when it’s facing the wrong way. It also features a slightly tighter gap and a midwall for perfect snappy response and regens.

After many prototypes and redesigns, the Vulcan has the perfect balance of control, speed, and powerful spin. An excellent choice for players of all skill levels to learn with, advance with, or compete with!

Artwork and package design by the awesome Graviti team member Dávid Benke.

Excellent Quality, One Caveat

Grind finish is excellent. Smoothness is right up there with any other yoyo in it's price range, which is to say it's very smooth. Thumb grinds are easy and lock in nicely due to the recessed thumb-grind lip.

Finger spins are not difficult but do require some skill and soft-finger technique. They do not lock in like a Shutter's fingerspin cup or the dimple on the Speedaholic XX, but the center of the yoyo is gently sloped inwards toward the axle hole which helps to center and "locate" the yoyo on your finger while it spins. If this was intentional then it's a very clever design.

The aggressive cuts of the cross-section look very cool and are effective at minimizing string friction, HOWEVER this is where the one caveat comes in. The innermost tapered cut of the yoyo is very shallow, almost parallel to the bearing surface as you can see in pictures. This causes a tactile "click" every time the yoyo is landed on the string, since the string rides on that cut for a few thousandths of a second before dropping into the bearing gap.

I'm not a fast player so I enjoy the clicky landings, it gives the yoyo a unique character. but if extreme speed is your style it could theoretically slow you down. I've not noticed any drawbacks of the click personally. No accelerated string wear. I've been using Alphaline on this throw.

The axle is 8mm and is pretty short, the yoyo will fit a 9mm but not 10mm.

In summary, I'm pleased with this yoyo and consider it well-priced in the $60 range.
