yoyofriends -   Malte Voss Signature YoYo!

Presenting the Paragraph, the distinctive signature model of Malte Voss, a seasoned yo-yo player with over 14 years of experience and two German National titles under his belt. Driven by his profound insights, the Paragraph encapsulates several key attributes. It's designed to excel in contests, along with being tailored to excel in executing the DNA trick, a central aspect of Malte's yo-yo journey. Lastly, it's aimed at affordability, catering to emerging and younger yo-yo enthusiasts with budget-conscious options, a reflection of Malte's own early experiences.

The development process involved an analysis of Malte's preferred yo-yo features, resulting in a hybrid design merging elements of both the W and H shapes, emphasizing large rims for power. The challenge of implementing a finger spin hub necessitated careful consideration of weight distribution, with the ultimate solution being a deeper and entirely reimagined finger spin cup.

After thorough testing, multiple iterations, and adjustments, the third prototype of the Paragraph emerged, combining optimal finger spin capabilities, refined response, and a balanced weight. Malte aptly chose the name "Paragraph" due to the German symbol for paragraph resembling the DNA trick. This connection to his life beyond yo-yoing, as an auditor, adds a personal touch to the model.

It's Alright

For $30 it's a nice yoyo.

That said, it's alright, at best. For being marketed as a "finger spin" yoyo, even adopting the paragraph symbol "because it looks like a DNA trick," it's really not good for finger spins. The body is lightly funneling, but the area around the cup is dead flat, so what usually happens is it wobbles around the perimeter of that funnel. If you're good enough to land you finger right in the cup it's decent. But if you're good enough to land it dead center then you're not using this yoyo.

Aside from that glaring flaw it does have some good points. The finish, for example, is phenomenal. It grinds like nothing, especially talons. It has good spin time and is very smooth. It does play a little heavy though, making it feel kind of sluggish on certain tricks and combos.

If you're looking for a nice monometal to throw around and practice grinds, it's a good buy. But if you're looking for a solid all 'round player that also happens to be downright amazing at finger spins, you could spend that same money on an iYoyo Shooting Star. If you just want to master finger spins then grab a Yoyofriends AOE. Easily the absolute best finger spinning yoyo. For half the price.

A whole lot of yoyo for 30 bucks.

Really impressed, have had mine for a couple of weeks now and haven't put it down. Fingerspins take a bit of getting used to but once you have it down they are super easy. Much more forgiving to catch than the Shortcut and the finish is beautiful.

At $30 I feel this is a bit of a "must have" and strong contender for best yoyo in $30 or less category.
