Ever since the Shutter was launched in 2013 there have been small changes made to keep it at the forefront of modern performance and in-tune with the needs of current USA champion Gentry Stein. This year Gentry's Freestyle was a bit bigger and a bit bolder. The yo-yo he threw? Shutter WIDE ANGLE!

In the words of Gentry himself:
When designing my signature model yoyo Shutter, there was one major goal. To create the best performing, most well rounded yoyo that could handle any trick I throw at it. We were beyond successful with this design. We did it. We created THE most ideal yoyo.

Fast forward 4 years later, Shutter is here to stay. It is the go to yoyo for myself and thousands of players around the world.
A few months ago though, I had a thought. What about when I feel like something a little more extreme? What about when I want to push the boundaries a little more with my tricks and performances and try something unique? Well, there was only one answer. "Let's make something extreme!" let's take the most well rounded yoyo on the market and tweak it a little bit. The goal was not to create something better, but something that is simply different.
I present, Shutter Wide Angle.

Shutter Wide Angle is not a Shutter replacement, but rather an addition to the Shutter lineup. For those who want to get a little more... extreme!

The vibe is insane on this yoyo. I have been throwing for over 20 years from every brand. Dont waste your time. It was great to have in my hand the evolution of the shutter, but the vibe was worse than the “superstar”. And that was the worst vibing yoyo. The only thing good about this yo-yo is the catch zone. The width of the yoyo doesnt let you miss.

Solid Yoyo

I originally got this yoyo as a b-grade for an anodization flaw, but it has still become a daily player, if not my #1 throw. This yoyo manages to be good at finger-spins (probably good at horizontal if I could haha) and technical tricks despite the extra width. The colors it comes in are some of the best anno combos I have seen for a yoyo at this price point, and it is solid throw. Shutter Wide Angle would also be a very good yoyo to get multiple of for competing, if you do that sort of thing. The only negative I can think of is that if you already have the Shutter that this might feel a little repetitive. I don't personally have a shutter but that it what I might think would happen. TL;DR/Summary: If you're new to unresponsive, or just are craving a new throw, this is where it's at.

SMOOTH LIKE BUTTER

Great all around yoyo especially for horizontal tricks. One of my favorite things about this yoyo is how smooth the finger grinds are. But just landing tricks and regular play it is also really smooth.

GOOD YOYO! Lacks stability and power

I got this yoyo for Christmas and I asked for this yoyo. This yoyo had the highest hopes over a bunch of other yoyos including the iCEBERG. I don't want to say this but the iCEBERG is many times better. This yoyo is good and wide but I have a few issues.

1. This yoyo lacks stability. I need stability for my bangers! If this is. wide yoyo, the stability has to be better.

2. The catch zone on this yoyo is a lot narrower than you think. Although this yoyo looks very wide, there is a very narrow catch zone, and if you don't catch it in that very small area, your yoyo will twist out of control.

3. This yoyo lacks power. This yoyo looks like it has big rims, but actually, the middle has a lot of the weight. Not only is it weak, but it is not fast playing either.

One of the only reasons it has a 3 star review is because of the looks... And the polished ring came with a scratch. Get this yoyo at your own will, but even at 120 dollars, I might as well just bought the bi-metal shutter.
