YoYoFactory - Gentry Stein Signature YoYo!

The world champion Gentry Stein signature Shutter series is one of the largest and most popular in the YoYoFactory lineup, and it's about to get a little bit bigger... or smaller maybe... with their latest addition. The pocket-sized Steel Shutter!

Machined from Stainless Steel, the new Steel Shutter takes the classic Shutter shape and adapts it to the denser and more durable material. It has the same weight as the full sized Shutter, but is sized down for weight and fitted with an A bearing. This gives it an incredibly powerful spin with all the power and performance of a full sized model.  And it's superb freestyle practice yoyo - Hitting your hardest tricks on a yoyo this size really helps to hone in your routine before a contest!

The smaller size makes the Steel Shutter the perfect yoyo to throw in your pocket or take on the go. Each one is individually numbered and engraved with the premium YYF logo and Gentry Signature.

Really heavy!

I agree with the first review. It is a very heavy yoyo. I bought this yoyo at a local store and not on yoyo expert, but I felt the need to share this review somewhere. It is a very cool yoyo to possess but I don’t really enjoy throwing it. It is so heavy that it feels like the yoyo slips and ends with a thud similar to how the first reviewer described it. You have to take care in throwing it so that it does not slip and just have the “thud” feeling at the end. I also agree that if I would go back and time and advise myself not to buy this yoyo. I don’t play with it because I don’t like how it feels and I’m afraid of hitting myself or anything else for that matter with how heavy the yoyo feels. I didn’t know where else to put this review so I went to Yoyo expert to write it. I hate to write a negative review for this one because I do like the regular shutter and I love Gentry, but this yoyo is now just a cool collector’s item for me.

great little yoyo

honestly, when I first got it I was majorly disappointed.
HOWEVER, after a while I pulled it out again and it has become a really enjoyable throw for me. as the last person said it is a bit heavy and in my opinion it is also slightly lacking in spin times.
Overall, it's a fun little thing that is a bit overpriced for what you get.

cool looking, collectible, brick-on-a-string

I got one from the first release--I was drawn to the numbered limited-edition collectibility marketing angle. Honestly, I would not advise my past self to get it. I suppose it's fun to have a small stainless steel throw and the miniaturized Shutter profile is a classic shape, but it arrives at the end of the string with a disconcerting thump and plays with usual deficits that small yo-yos tend to have in terms of spin time, stability, and unforgiving catch zones. The weight-to-volume ratio is disconcertingly high. This won't do anything better than even low-priced but well-made mono-metals, but if you buy yo-yos for their stylistic lineage, appearance, or the story behind them, you might find this worth its steep price.
