Damian Puckett - Powerful W-Shaped YoYo
Damian Puckett has made a name for himself purely by creating incredibly playing and aesthetically beautiful yoyo designs. His approach has been to specialize in limited releases with a focus on performance and quality. If you haven’t experienced throwing one of his designs get ready to be impressed.
From Damian Puckett: I’ve always had a fascination with W or wing shaped yo-yos. From a catchability standpoint wide yo-yos are great, but I have found 46mm to be the width limit before yo-yos start to lose spin time and stability. This can be compensated for with excessive rim weight, but that leads to a whole new set of problems. The Wingweaver was created to push that width limit while still having plenty of spin time and stability. The ring weight on the SS version is 12.87G per ring. I found this weight to be the right amount to give it all the characteristics I was looking for without coming off as overly powerful.
Damian's comments on brass rings:
I started yoyoing in the late 2000s. The yo-yos of that era were a lot heavier than todays standard. I personally find modern yo-yos to be too light for my taste. Almost every bimetal I make will have a SS ring version and a Brass ring version. The SS ring version caters to more of the modern iteration of yo-yo and the Brass ring versions have the added weight and solid feel that most of todays yo-yos are missing. Each version plays equally well, pick the one with the weight you desire.
