Arctica
Atmos Project - A Polycarbonate Reimagination of a Crowd Favourite, The Ari!
Introducing the latest addition and the first plastic model in Atmos' Weatherman line – the Arctica.
The Arctica was born from nostalgia for past eras of yo-yos. Plastic designs hold a special place in the industry for their affordability and unique player experience compared to performance metals. Atmos grew up on plastics, and despite the dominance of metals today, they cherish the feel, play, and sound of plastic yoyos, which remain staples in every collector's case and player’s rotation.
Creating plastic yoyos today is challenging due to narrow business margins unless mass-produced. Plastics cost almost as much as metals to machine but require more engineering for precision and smooth play. Atmos values the small brands that continue making small-batch plastics out of passion.
Atmos' first plastic release, the Snowberry, was a love letter to plastic designs. The Arctica follows as a polycarbonate version of the Ari, a wide, W-shaped titanium known for its quick, light, and floaty play. The Ari's unique features, like side effects compatibility and Duncan-spec caps, made it a favorite among Atmos fans.
The Arctica captures the essence of the Ari, offering nostalgia, fun, and feel. Atmos chose polycarbonate for its rigidity, essential for the Arctica's complex assembly of 12 precision-machined polycarbonate and aluminum parts. This design ensures outstanding precision and smoothness, uncommon in plastic yoyos.
With a 58.6mm diameter, 53.0mm width, and 66.6g weight, the Arctica is big but feels natural and comfortable. It’s incredibly light, stable, and floaty, perfect for any play style. Experience the Arctica – a true testament to Atmos' dedication to plastic yoyos!
