Luftverk - Injection Machined Innovative Plastic

Pure White
$ 29.99

Jeffrey Pang of Luftverk had files for a plastic Triple Zero going all the way back 4 years ago to 2019. His main inspiration was a bit unusual - he was fascinated by the Yoyojam Kickside which was actually his first yoyo (shout out to Rick Wyatt). As a kid he got a yellow one from Hong Kong and it was what got him hooked on yoyos. The floaty unapologetically large organic shape made it such a fun yoyo to learn on. he must have spent hundreds of hours playing with that thing. When he developed the titanium Triple Zero, it also sparked an idea of a plastic one, with elements of that first yoyo experience he had. At that at the time he was way too scared to pursue it. But this was the start of the Plastic Triple Zero.

During the Covid shut down, he spent so much time at home with not much else to do. It was then he started 3D printing various projects. Inspired by the titanium Triple Zero from the year prior, he printed this exact yoyo - using the Fluid Print Dynamics spacer kit he expected it to be no good. But that was far from the truth. It was incredible - It felt so floaty and fun. It encouraged a bouncy fast play style. It kind of captured what that Yoyojam Kickside felt like, but felt more modern. That was actually the exact moment this whole plastic Injection Machining idea started from. Without this viby 3D printed yoyo, he isn't sure any of the Luftverk plastics would even exist!

So with that Luftverk proudly is the Plastic Triple Zero, an “Injection Machined” yoyo which is a technique that achieves that classic YoYoJam over molded bearing seat feel but with the quality of a premium machined aluminum yoyo. It is first injection molded into a large plastic blank then the profile is completely CNC machined. This particular version is based on the original titanium Triple Zero released in 2018.

The organic shape of the Triple Zero creates the ultimate floaty yoyo experience - aimed at being fast and fun like its titanium counterpart. Capturing the feel of how the original Titanium version moves on string was very important with this project. A clean and minimalistic design language is carried throughout the yoyo and box.

Took two weeks to arrive, but totally worth the wait! The quality on this yoyo is top-notch, and honestly, this might be the prettiest one I’ve ever owned. Love the color!

Great addition to collection

I was curious about the good reviews so tried it out with the accessible price. Right out of the box I wasn't yet convinced. But after about 5 minutes it's really hard to put down! Good buy and great addition to round out a collection with something that really feels unique. The gap appears tight when you look at it, perhaps just an illusion with the shape, but I'm pleased that it's not as bindey as it appears it would be. Just wish it was a tad smaller.

Perhaps Better Than the Fulvia!

I've been using the Fulvia as my EDC, but ordered a teal 000 from Jeffery the moment I saw it. I can't say it's better than the Fulvia, as this isn't the same style of yoyo, but personally, I prefer it.

The 000 is certainly lighter on the string, with more float, and more relaxed, slower playing. Stability isn't as good as the Fulvia, but I wouldn't say it is lacking in stability. The shape of the 000 makes it more comfortable than the Fulvia, but it is a large diameter yoyo, so it is something to get used to.

Anesthetic-wise, the 000 has similarities to the Fulvia, namely the double rim design, but the 000 has a nicer flow to the shape, including the cup making a bowl shape. The Fulvia, on the other hand, is more angular. Of course, this is just how I see the 000 compared to the Fulvia.

One thing the 000 can do that the Fulvia can't: thumb grinds. The inner portion of the rim cuts inwards a bit, allowing for grinds.

Premium made affordable: Part 2

Following up the Plastic Fulvia the Plastic 000 continues to allow folks to get a taste of what Luftverk is all about. Although not as stable as the past two 000 releases, the 54SE and Ti-7068, There is a general overlap with those which carries into this model full force. Spin time is plenty long to get though most combo's (~35-40s with my current skillset), with stability really only causing issues in the last 5 seconds of these combo's (something that you can adjust in play to compensate for). Organic fans are in for a treat with the classic 000 shape while performance fans might be surprised at the level of maneuverability and initial power packed in on a throw.

All of this plus a level of RnD, story telling, and attention to detail, for $30 is truly exceptional, making it an extremely easy recommendation to any player who might be interested or on the fence.
