The story of the Peregrine X begins with the original Peregrine, an ultimate competition yo-yo conceptualized by YoYoFriends in 2018 to follow up the legendary Hummingbird. In 2019 and 2020, YoYoFriends brought the Peregrine to life with a 7068 aluminum and stainless steel design focused on stability, acceleration, and speed.

Named after the high-performing peregrine falcon, it quickly became a flagship model. Recognizing the need for more power and control in 2023, YoYoFriends experimented with a revised design by shaving 3g off the body and adding it to the rims for increased stability. Although this revision received positive feedback, it lacked the original Peregrine's burst of acceleration and top speed.

After further testing and observing trends towards wider yo-yos for better zoning tricks, YoYoFriends increased the Peregrine's width to 48mm and adjusted the weight distribution. This Rev. 3 Peregrine, now named Peregrine X, combines power, control, stability, and catchability without sacrificing speed, truly earning its place as the successor to the original Peregrine.
