Awesome organic

Great organic yoyo. Got the moonrock finish and it is awesome as you would expect. Have quite a variety of throws in my collection and this one is up there with the best in terms of manufacturing quality. The bearing came pretty dry which I actually do prefer even if it means there is some noise until a little lubrication. Other commenters have compared it to the myy n11. The N11 is freakishly smooth for the money, and feels like a classic Duncan butterfly in my hand. The Koi feels unique and well crafted in comparison. Both have a nice spot in my rotation, but the koi is way nicer in the hand.

No flow

The yoyo looks good and plays ok, but the yoyo just feels dead and boring. The magic yoyo n11 feels more fun and is cheaper.

It Looks Great

This was one of those rare times I saw a pretty good review and bought a yoyo because it looked really nice. Let's just say I'm glad it was the Koi and not something more expensive like a moonrock Peregrine.

Aside from pure aesthetics, I don't like the Koi at all. I love organic yoyos and own more of them than any other style. I got the Koi expecting it to play like a One Drop Panorama or Diorama, based on the reviews I'd seen. It doesn't. It doesn't play like a Taijitu, and it definitely doesn't play like a Zero. It's like YoyoFriends was trying to combine the best features of an organic and a competition V or something, but instead got the worst of both types.

The Koi I got came with a basic concave bearing out of the box. It was quiet, but it played like crap. It was somehow snaggy and slippy at the same time. Binds were super unreliable and half the time ended up in tangles or knots. It was unstable, lethargic, and had less spin time than my $8 Duncan Hornet. I changed the bearing numerous times, trying every type I own: Center Trac, DS, Groove, Pixel, and VIP. With each bearing swap I tried Slakie, Alphaline, and Zipline strings. Not a single combination had any significant positive effect, other than greatly increased spin time.

Out of all my yoyos there are only three or four that I regret buying. Two of those are YoyoFriends, one of them being the Koi. I admit it is very, very pretty. Unfortunately I have no need for a $50 paper weight.

Excellent organic!

I don't have any organic shaped yo-yos except for a pretty old and cheap one. I find it very refreshing to play. Very stable on the string and moves nicely. A lot of fun to play with, beautiful and the typical awesome Yoyofriends quality!
I don't think there is anything disappointing about this one :)

Pleasantly Surprised

I expected this yoyo to be good, but it blew my expectations out of the water. The thing that surprised me most was the spin time, which is better than my other organic yo-yos of similar price. The response pads are also very good, even at lower speeds. It can be a bit hard to balance throughout a trick, but that just helps you get better at manipulating and balancing the yoyo. Not too heavy, or light. Truly amazing.
